Standards, Policies and Procedures
Purpose:
The purpose of the PLBC Book Scholarship from the Virginia Turner Scholarship Fund is to financially assist students in pursuit of post-secondary education based on their academic achievement between ages of 17-22
The Promised Land Baptist Virginia Turner Scholarship is:
- Awarded to high school seniors entering a college/university or trade school seeking a degree or certification program
- Awarded to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program
- Renewable to students enrolled in a post-secondary program who previously received a book scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria:
- members who are high school seniors or in their first, second, third, fourth or fifth year of a college/university or trade school seeking a degree or certification progra
- Must provide proof of admission to a college/university or trade school for the fall/spring
- Reapplying College Students
- Open to Promised Land Baptist Church students currently enrolled in college/trade school
- Must have attained at least a semester grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale for the most recent semester completed
- If requested must submit copy of class registration for Fall/Spring semester/session and must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours.

- Draft One Page Letter to Joint Board requesting a book scholarship by April 30, 2025 to be addressed to kobryant@theplbc.org
- Award Allocation Factors
-Joint Board will consider an essay and the student’s active participation in one or more of the following: campus programs, church involvement, and community service.
